The article informs about the conference "Narrative Theory(s) and Literature Teaching", which took place online from 24-26.04.2023 and was hosted by the PH Schwäbisch Gmünd and the WWU Münster. In addition to the theoretical discussion of suitable analytical terms for the media-specific or cross-media description of narratives, concrete narratological phenomena and procedures were discussed in terms of their relevance for teaching literature, and current narratives in various media manifestations were examined in terms of their potential for literary learning. A further thematic focus was on taking stock of narratological knowledge in textbooks and curricula. The individual contributions are reviewed below and the conference papers are critically discussed against the background of the question of the function that academic knowledge can have for l1 and literature education.
