The article reports on the conference "The interplay of language and subject-matter learning", which took place in Cologne from March 4 to 5, 2024. The aim of the interdisciplinary conference was to explore the nature and direction of the interdependencies between language and subject-matter on the basis of theoretical modeling and empirical reconstructions. This article summarizes the structure and findings of the various presentations and outlines key discussion points that could provide direction for future research in this field.
